Ignite presentation learner response

 1) Type up your feedback in full including the ratings out of five for each of the categories.

Research (through presentation and blog) - 5

Music video/ magazine concept - 4

Language: terminology and theory - 3

Representations - 3

Audience and Industry - 3

Delivery - 3

Total out of 30 - 21

*Nice introduction that lays out plan for presentation.
*Clear justification for use of song and then quite detailed outline of narrative. Narrative disruption is clear but perhaps needs a bit more depth.
*Matching lyrics to images a good music video convention but I'm not sure there is 3 minutes worth of shot/ narrative here.
*Performance element will help this.
*What is the significance of taking the book?
*Is there danger of narrative becoming repetitive?
*Perhaps lack of slide content/ rehearsed in terms of timing and delivery.
*Music magazine needs to be original- one to address with statement of intent.
*Good to see some theory - audience, representation. You'll want some more depth to this in your statement-particularly how you create video to reflect that theory.
*Digital convergence briefly addressed at the end.

Q+A
*Nice question on magazine content- answered confidently.
*Second question on audience psychographics-worth adding to statement.

2) Use this feedback, comments from peers and your own reflection on your presentation to self-assess and write your own detailed WWW and EBI for your coursework concept and presentation as a whole.

WWW: In my ignite presentation was that I felt confident in delivering my slides and that I knew exactly what to say for my slides as I did spend a lot of time researching through my facts and the song I am going to use.

EBI: If my narrative was better developed. There was a repeat of narrative in my music video and I need to work on thinking on how to make it better and extend it to 3 minutes so it meets the brief.

3) Write a paragraph discussing how your presentation will lead into your actual coursework production. Do you need to update your statement of intent? Does your concept offer enough clarity? Is it appropriate for the audience specified in the brief? Is it achievable to film with the resources you have available? Can you add media terminology or theory to your statement of intent now you have reflected on your presentation and seen others?

I feel like some points from my ignite presentation will help me in my actual coursework such as the media representation I will be using and the theories I mentioned ( David Gauntlett: Masculinity, Tzvetan Todorov: Equilibrium theory) will help me in my coursework as I will be showing this in my music video through my narrative. I feel like this is also appropriate for my audience as my demographic is between 12-18 year olds as my music video is based around school life and this is the right age of people being in school. However, I feel like improving on my statement of intent when  it comes to my narrative as it is a bit too short and in order to meet the brief it has to be 3 minutes long (currently I feel like I have 1min and 30sec worth of footage).

REMINDER: You also need to ensure that ALL your research and planning from over the summer - including your current statement of intent - is posted to your Media 2 coursework blog.
